MADE FOR WALKING

Although I’d love to keep wearing flip flops and sandals, Hong Kong can get pretty cold during the winter. The perfect pair of boots is always so handy–I like to throw them on with pants or leggings. Heeled booties are always nice, but it’s a lot more comfortable to slip into flats or boots. Don’t forget to have a pair of knee length boots too for those chilly, humid winds. I’ve just discovered the Duo brand, and they have a huge selection of boots, all featuring a great color palette for autumn.

From top left to right:

Duo Carmen ankle boots [US$180], Duo Ralston slipper-style pumps [US$155], Duo Woodbury flat Chelsea boot [US$180], Duo Durbin heel lace-up ankle boot [US$210], Duo Fraser lace-up ankle boot with fur trim [US$195], Duo Novello high heel platform ankle boot [US$290], Duo Bloom slipper [US$145], Duo Alda flat lace-up [US$155], Duo Verne stiletto heel ankle boot [US$225], Duo Grayson ankle boot [US$180], Duo Swanson platform shoe boot [US$195], Duo Avron flat knee-high boot [US$315]

So are you more into ankle booties or knee-length styles?

GREEN FACES

It’s nice to see the similarity in weather forecasts in Hong Kong and New York during fashion week (still rocking shorts in the fall). Tommy Ton captures the fashion week magic perfectly as usual. My inspiration Miroslava Duma with Elena Perminova both looking effortless as usual–in forest green! Can’t wait to see the rest of the fashion coverage when fashion week wraps up in Paris.

LET’S LEAVE TOMORROW

As London Fashion Week comes to an end, I’m so excited to start seeing all the collections from the shows in Paris. September is always such a  busy month for fashion. It has yet to get cold in Hong Kong, but it doesn’t mean we’re not eagerly shopping in anticipation. The fall 2012 collection from A.T by Atsuro Tayama has some great knits and cardigans for the season, which is always good to have in the closet because the air con in Hong Kong is always just so cold!

A.T by Atsuro Tayama double gauze tee [US$161], A.T by Atsuro Tayama running cotton top [US$148], A.T by Atsuro Tayama gauze parka [US$131], A.T by Atsuro Tayama cuffed slip dress [US$188], A.T by Atsuro Tayama striped top [US$114], A.T by Atsuro Tayama cotton chiffon skirt [US$215], A.T by Atsuro Tayama stretch denim [US$102], A.T by Atsuro Tayama wool skirt [US$295], A.T by Atsuro Tayama twill skirt [US$188], A.T by Atsuro Tayama Viera short [US$161]

What collections are you looking forward to seeing at PFW?

MIX BUT NOT MATCH

The brilliance behind A.T by Atsuro Tayama’s collections is that he always stresses the idea that pieces should be mixed and not matched. Patterns and colors should be mixed to make a statement, or textures should not match to give an outfit texture. This look shot for A.T from Fall/Winter 1998 shows that classics never go out of style. And although the denim trend is a bit more summer than fall, the large knits are always a perfect match for autumn. What do you look forward to wearing this fall?

CINDIDDY ON A MISSION

It’s a brand new season, so I have new goals to make everything better. Resolutions shouldn’t just be restricted to new years right? We should always be striving to be better and improve. New clothes, new image, new routine, new experiences. Gotta work, work out, and out do everything that has happened in the summer! Easier said than done I know, but every step is progress.

What do you hope to achieve this fall? See what I’m up to on Instagram (@Cindiddy)!

THIS IS THE FIRST DAY OF MY LIFE

It’s really exciting to see all of the updates on fashion weeks and see what the people in each city are wearing like this photo from the French Savoir Faire. If I could rock so many prints at one time, I would but at the moment I’ll leave it to the professionals. I usually also only wear a few accessories at a time, but this woman’s bracelet collection looks great! What are your favorite styles from fashion week?

MAJOR BLAZER

Ksubi sunglasses
American apparel t-shirt
A.T by Atsuro Tayama blazer
Random shorts
Proenza Schouler bag

My favorite pieces to layer during autumn and winter are definitely big cozy cardigans and army green jackets. The A.T by Atsuro Tayama Fall/Winter 2012 collection has a lot of versatile pieces that can be worn alone or layered with blouses and jackets. One of my favorites is their gray, black, and blue dress because it gives a bright pop of teal in an otherwise dull palette. Check out their full collection on their website. And don’t forget to check out my previous favorite looks from A.T here and here.

WHERE YOU SHOULD BE

I still can’t believe how quickly it has turned into September. Soon the humidity will be less noticeable, and the next thing you know it will be winter season! Now the autumn clothing is all release, and we can compile our list of essentials for this season. Here’s a visual list for your viewing pleasure of what I would like: a cozy coat, flowy blouses, and cozy sweaters for when it’s too cold to go outside.

WE CAN BURN BRIGHTER THAN THE SUN

Good street style is always an exciting thing to see. Although runway looks are always straightforward and beautiful, the way other people interpret different pieces are the most interesting to look at. These two friends for example, photographed by the Sartorialist, are probably just waiting for the movers to pick up their things as they nonchalantly wait in their printed pants. If being stylish is contagious amongst friends, then I call Jenn Brill.

JUST A FREE SPIRIT

It’s time to stock up on those basics for layering and keeping warm. Gone will be the days of running out of the house in shorts and a t-shirt, but at least we won’t have to deal with the heat anymore. I usually like to throw on my leather jacket since it goes with almost everything or just bury myself in a cozy sweater. Winter is coming! (But it can’t come soon enough.)

From top left to right:

Esprit Romantic Elegance thin dress [US$94], Esprit Fashion elegant sweet dress [US$63], Esprit thin loose round neck shirt [US$20], Esprit lapel leather jacket [US$94], Esprit hollowed round neck long-sleeved sweater [US$63], Esprit OL lady chiffon shirt [US$63], Esprit pinstripe cotton jacket [US$110], Esprit sexy slim jeans [US$63], Esprit thin V neck fitted cardigan [US$53], Esprit buckle belt [US$13], Esprit black chiffon long-sleeved jacket [US$33], Esprit casual striped long sleeve T-shirt [US$47]

GOOD SHOT

If you’ve been to fashion week before, then you know just how important it is to get the right shot as soon as possible. Today’s inspiration is a shot from the Facehunter, Yvan Rodic’s, personal visual diary. The girl looks effortlessly cool while snapping away at Copenhagen Fashion Week. Speaking of photographs, Yvan also took many of the shots in the Esprit shoot we had as well. Hope you look forward to seeing the final cut of the project!

SOLID INSPIRATION

It’s all about getting people inspired today, and it’s always exciting when I get inspired from the most unexpected things. Needless to say, you will always be inspired when you visit one of my favorite blogs, Luxirare. Her attention to detail is meticulous, and her ideas are always so innovative and creative. Enjoy your day with her shot of delicious lobster and Hermes cuffs. What goes better together than timeless fashion and fresh food?

KEEP IT CASUAL

Casual done right doesn’t always mean that it’s reserved for hanging out with friends or sitting at a coffee shop. It’s effortless yet still stylish. Today’s inspiration is a photo from the ever popular Jak & Jil, photographed by the amazing Tommy Ton. Love the Isabel Marant sneaker shoes, laidback leather belt, and cool jacket in hand. Just wear what feels right, and keep it casual.

SLIGHT CONTRAST

The Fall/Winter collections of designers always get me really excited for the cold weather to finally come. I love everything about the 3.1 Phillip Lim Fall 2012 collection because every piece is wearable and very distinct with its accentuated lines and dark colors. There’s also lots of black and white (perfect!) and bright contrasts with different colors. Not to mention, his sweaters look so cozy I wish it was winter right now just so I could throw it on.

Any particular favorites from Phillip?

I’M ON A BOAT

After a long week of work and and events, I look forward to the weekend filled with (hopefully) good weather, good company, and hanging out in the water. Gotta get that vitamin D fix somehow! Shopping for bathing suits is always fun because they’re almost an outfit in themselves. Pair it with a casual beach bag, and you’re good to go. The weather’s really nice today too actually…Wish I wasn’t stuck inside in front of the computer! Haha.

A THOUSAND WORDS

Writing is a craft that gets better with practice. Or so they say! No matter how much I write or blog, the inspiration behind all the writing doesn’t get easier. When you’re stuck, you’re stuck. Some people have told me to do other things and come back to it, have a cup of tea, listen to music and eventually it’ll come to you. I guess it just takes time. Like everything else in life, we just have to be patient with it. Well, I’m not very patient! Haha. If a picture is a thousand words, then here are thousands of words.

Any tips for how to deal with writer’s block? Enlighten me! And feel free to follow me on Instagram (Cindiddy) too!

The summer days make for lazy mornings and sleeping in when possible, and now it’s almost August already! How quick was that? Even though the hot weather in Hong Kong seeps into the fall months, we still have to savor what nice weather we can get. Summer means that I get to live in my shorts or throw on the occasional dress for stylish comfort. Dress up simple outfits with different, intriguing accessories, and you’re good to go!

STATE OF GRACE

The best thing about black is that it’s perfect for any time and any occasion, and everything always matches with it. It’s really easy to just throw it on when you don’t really know what to wear. And as if black couldn’t get any better, when you wear different dark textures, you can’t help but look effortlessly cool. Try some lace, satin, leather, and more. And yes, all in black.

Sister Jane Skull chain blouse [US$80.66], Givenchy sheer sleeve dress [US$934], Topshop Crochet side panel shorts [US$50], Alice + Olivia Box pleat leather skirt [US$396], Alexander Wang Sleeveless tee shirt [US$235], Balmain Skinny leather pants [US$3,064], Theyskens’ Theory Jago satin-crepe shorts [US$97], Alexander Wang leather short [US$625], Theyskens’ Theory Karyl Yaif top [US$395], ASOS Lace dress with scalloped neck [US$69]

SUMMER AWAKENING

The small details to accessories and clothing are the best because they’re like small surprises that only you can see. Whether it’s patterned sequins, tiny ribbon bows, or colorful feathers, the collection from Roger Vivier is the perfect example of attention to detail. Their Fall/Winter 2013 collection is reminiscent of the roaring ‘20s, inspired by late nights, glasses of champagne, and stylish apartments. Hey, that happens to be inspiration for me too.

From top left to right:

Roger Vivier Moustache heels [HK$21,100], Roger Vivier Folder Disco [HK$24,400], Roger Vivier Velvet cloud heels [HK$9,500], Roger Vivier Belle Vivier Cartouchiere [HK$32,200], Roger Vivier T-Bar Prismick poodle shoes [HK$11,000], Roger Vivier Pilgrim Palmettes [HK$17,800], Roger Vivier Paint box [HK$26,700], Roger Vivier Palace Sequins shoes [HK$16,700], Roger Vivier Papillon shoes [HK$7,700], Roger Vivier Pochette Prismick [HK$9,500]

Who doesn’t love the ‘20s?

RED WHITE AND OH SO BLUE

Stylish doesn’t always mean an overload of layers and accessories to make an outfit right. A detailed top or a dress with simple jewelry can do the trick in the hot weather. What’s good about the tops from American Eagle are that they are comfortable and detailed so you can just throw them on with a pair of shorts, and you’re good to go. I’m hitting a mid-summer slump where I’m not sure what to wear anymore, but it’s easiest to just keep it simple.

From top left to right:

American Eagle Dotty lace corset [HK$490], American Eagle Split neck baby doll [HK$390], American Eagle Dainty bling stacked rings [HK$150], American Eagle Bubble eyelet tank chambray [HK$340], American Eagle Silver leaf cuff [HK$170], American Eagle Friendship bracelet trio [HK$150], American Eagle Double tie racerback tank [HK$190], American Eagle Print & embroidered corset [HK$290], American Eagle Austria emb dress [HK$490], American Eagle Split neck baby doll [HK$390]

Any suggestions for some last minute summer outfits?

ALL WHITE EVERYTHING

The summer time is the best for white since it’s light and helps you keep cool (although I still like to wear my black clothing too). Whether you’re wearing a white tee with a pair of jeans or pairing a white skirt with a bright top, white basics are always a versatile choice to have in your closet. And to the daring souls, you can even wear white from head to toe. Since it’s so hot here, I don’t see why not!

HISTORY IN THE MAKING

The best way to invest in your wardrobe is to make sure that you’re stocked with the right basics. With the grand opening of Abercrombie and Fitch in Central’s Pedder Building on August 11, you’ll be able to find your favorite basic pieces with ease. I can never get tired of a classic sweater and comfy pair of lace shorts, and it’s always nice to throw on a striped tank since they go with practically everything. Swing by the opening of the shop! We hear the infamous A&F male models will be there to help you do a little shopping.

I KNOW PLACES

Summertime calls for cold drinks, shorts, and hanging outside when the weather permits. It also means traveling and seeing the world outside the concrete jungle I call home. I’m lucky to say that I’m currently in Berlin, enjoying the weather (less sweat and humidity is a blessing!) and being with close friends. It’s nice to be able to take a break from everything in Hong Kong, and I love the vibrant and artistic energy in Germany.

Have you guys taken any trips so far? If you want to know what I’m doing or where I’m going, follow me on Instagram (@cindiddy) to see more!

BIT BY THE TRAVEL BUG

As rewarding as traveling can be, packing and going through customs is a huge hassle. My travel advice is to pack light and practical, but just because you need to be comfortable doesn’t mean you can’t be stylish too. Dresses and shorts are a comfy compromise. Flats are also a must, but a fancy pair of shoes never hurts (you never know!).  Keep the sunglasses on for those sleepless flights, and take time to unwind when you get to your hotel. I just found these Philips Shoqbox bluetooth speakers– they’re waterproof and can be attached to any bag or luggage, so you can share your music tastes with whatever country you happen to be in.

From top left to right:

NOT A SLEEPING BEAUTY

If sleep is for the weak, then I must be really weak because I love sleeping! It’s not that I’m usually out in the evening time, but I’m definitely a night owl because I’d rather stay up late watching a movie or just hang out. My schedule can be a little hectic though, so a full night’s sleep isn’t always an option, but if I could be a version of sleeping beauty, I’d hope to sleep forever in these.

IT’S A GOOD DAY TO HAVE A GOOD DAY

They say girls are made of sugar and spice and everything nice, but I don’t exactly agree. I think it’s more lace and gold and everything bold, haha. This week, platform heels have caught my eye as well as this hot pink playsuit and lace dress. Gold accents are also great when paired with black, and just recently I dropped my iPhone and shattered it (well, accidents happen), so when a protective case looks this good, you just can’t say no.

LOOK BACK AND MOVE FORWARD

Oftentimes I find people asking me, “what are you up to?” or “what’s been going on lately?”. It feels like there have been so many things going on in the past few weeks that I can’t completely remember every detail, but I’m glad I have everything documented. It’s the early mornings, fun times with friends, little details, and spontaneous moments that you should cherish, yet sometimes it’s the little things that we forget to appreciate. This is my collective of all of these little things, documented perfectly with my instagram (@cindiddy). Today we can look back on what I’ve been up to and move along.

I’m happy to say that the past few weeks have been fun, and there’s plenty more in store. So what have you been up to lately?

WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE

This week I’ve found myself lured by all kinds of prints hence the stripes, whether it be zebra, tiger, or sailor. Summer’s an excuse to dress a little more wild than usual though isn’t it? Summer style is also all about the details–dress things up with a chain and cut out skirt or go for pants with a pop of color. And the lace shirt, kind of reminds you a bit of Lana Del Rey right?

From top left to right:

Dieppa Restrepo gaston fluorescent tassel loafers [US$395.00], TOPSHOP Textured Full Skirt [US$60.00], Rachel Comey duke swimsuit [US$280.00], Yves Saint-Laurent 140MM Tribtoo Calf Pumps [HK$5,269.00], Laurence Dacade Peter boot, Carven Mint Silk Sleeve Lace Blouse [US$775.00], Givenchy Slim Fit Trouser [US$623.00], Givenchy Chain Detail Skirt [US$2200.00], Karen Walker Eyewear Number One Crazy Tortoise Sunglasses [US$220.00], Opening Ceremony soludos oc raffia espadrilles [US$45.00], On M’oda ‘Operandi Scoop One Piece  [US$315.00]

NEED A NEON FIX

Here’s some advice, haha.  If you like neon like me, it’s really easy to throw on a bright tee to put some color in your outfit. But if you’d rather keep a low profile, a bright iPhone case will do the trick too (matching nail polish not required). I have yet to include these pair of beautiful but surprisingly not too painful shoes to my collection, but in the meantime I’ll just work with my favorite ring that I wear on the daily, and of course, the Cindiddy x MATAHARI clutch (available for purchase at i.t).

From top left to right:

T by Alexander Wang tee in lemon grass [HK$134.00], Mata Hari x Cindiddy cluch with detachable chiffon skirt; available in black and purple [HK$1,199.00], Yves Saint Laurent 160MM Obsession Silk Mirror platform shoes [HK$10,350.00], David Yurman Large Pave Diamond Crossover ring [HK$7,570.00], VISBYH Slender Case for iPhone4/4S [HK$225.00], American Apparel Neon nail polish [HK$46.50].

What do you need to get your hands on this week?

IF THE SHOE FITS

The hot summer weather usually calls for less layers and less clothes, so make your normal shorts and tee getup more exciting with some amazing shoes! And if your body isn’t exactly beach ready, it’s a good thing shoes always fit! Bright heels and wedges are a must, but I definitely own more flats than I do heels. There’s no excuse for you to be wearing flip flops everywhere now (but I do). These are my top ten picks for the summer season. Which ones would you wear?

From top left: Giuseppe Zanotti Alien studded high-heel sandals [HK$9,300], Chloe Snake skin flat [US$556.50], TopShop Raver perspex mix sandals [US$86], Nicholas Kirkwood Patent leather-trimmed satin sandals [US$1,090], Soludos Playa seersucker espadrilles [HK$290.09], ASOS Handle wedges [HK$662.98], Jenni Kayne D’orsay flat [US$415], Charlotte Olympia Melody raffia platform wedge sandals [US$1,276], ZARA studded sandal made with Swarovski elements [HK$999], Jeffrey Campbell Nadia platform wedge [US$188]

Let the summer season begin!
